Building Community, Ending Homelessness
During the winter months, Anthony's Plot does much of its work with our partner ministry, City With Dwellings. City With Dwellings is a ministry to our city's unhoused population, that works with a "community-first" initiative to end homelessness. We run the winter overflow shelter from December 1st through March 31st annually. Every night, guests check in at a central location, and are then bused to their prospective shelters. At the shelters, they're given a mat to sleep on, a hot meal for dinner, and a bag lunch to take with them as they leave in the morning.
In addition, we run a resource center, the Community First Center, which is open Tuesday and Thursday mornings. At the Community First Center, guests can find the resources they need to help them navigate the system from homelessness to housed. Advocates are available to assist them. Classes in art, yoga, financial management, anger management, and more are offered to the guests as well. Our regular guests can also receive mail here.
